Rugby League Jamaica (RLJ) is deeply concerned about the well-being of a member of our community, Alpachino Mignott, who has been reported as missing by the Niagara Police, in Niagara, Ontario, Canada on October 29.
Alpachino travelled on Wednesday, October 16 from Kingston, Jamaica, to Toronto, Canada to play a rugby match and spend time on vacation. The match was on October 19th at Lamport Stadium. He was booked to return to Jamaica on Wednesday, October 23. Other travelling members of the team have returned to Jamaica, England, and the USA within one week of the game.
Our teams played matches on Saturday, October 19, at Lamport stadium versus Canada and Canada Selects. We had an after-game social, however, Alpachino did not attend. He parted from the main group at the stadium after the matches, and the information we have is he left Toronto via an Uber and went to Niagara meet up with a friend. The Niagara Police has confirmed this information and states his last known location was in the Kent and Queeston Street area at around 10:45 pm.
RLJ is cooperating with the Niagara Police, and we have informed the Jamaica High Commission and Jamaica Consulate in Toronto who are monitoring the situation. We have also been in contact with his family. We appeal to individuals to desist from spreading false information on social media regarding his whereabouts as this will only complicate the process to locate him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the player, his family, and the entire team. We hope for his safe return soon and kindly request privacy and respect for his family during this difficult time.
Anyone who may have credible information as to his location are asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1002200.
